A brief note about last night’s Degenderit Party…. all I can say is WOW. Wow, what a great, diverse show. Wow, so many new people who were introduced to Goodhandy’s. And wow, we love those new people, there was such a positive energy in the room. The place was packed, the dance-floor was packed, there were trans-men arm wrestling, t-boys barrel-dancing, bio-girls doing burlesque entertainment, lesbians and bisexuals and gender-queers and gay boys all bonding in one place, a spontaneous T-Girl dance-floor ignited on the second floor mezzanine, sexy and scandalous Jennifer discovered the Diamond Room (yes Jennifer, I mean you!), and when we announced that next Friday we are starting Karaoke at 9:30pm, there were cheers.

So check out Goodhandy’s any night, but I’m telling you, if you are trans-men and allies and admirers, and have not yet discovered our space, please do come by next Friday. I was told by numerous trans-guys that they didn’t know we existed yet, and that they don’t really have a club to call their own, so let it be known that now you do!

I updated the Club Info section of the website to clarify the evolution of the Goodhandy’s evenings. But I thought I would also take the opportunity to explain in the blog so nobody is confused.

I personally do not like labels, so take my disclaimer here that all labels are just used for convenience, of course there are five million variations on all of the labels used.

Goodhandy’s is a trans folk club, operated by trans folk and those close to the community, and we welcomes all genders on all nights as visitors. Things are evolving on each of our nights, but happily they are ALL still staying mixed.

Wednesday is a primarily gay / bi men’s night, but note that ladies and all genders who like to look at scantily clad boys wrestling in an inflatable pool are more than welcome!

Thursday is the night where the T-Girls are the main focus. There are T-Girl “Diamond Girls” dancing on the barrels from 8pm to 11pm and a midnight T-Girl show. As on other nights, everyone is welcome, but for those who feel most comfortable in a discreet, mellow night where all the T-Girls in town come out to be seen, meet, and mingle, Thursday is the night for you.

Friday is the night the T-Boys / Trans-Men and their admirer and allies are claiming as their own. But they love meeting and partying with the T-Girls as well – there is definitely a T-Girl presence on Friday as well, particularly in the upstairs bar area. We try to have DJ Nikki Red in the booth as often as possible (he is currently booked for every Friday in September except for September 2nd) and the midnight drag king / t-boy / trans-man show is getting hotter. If I am using labels incorrectly, feel free to educate me

Saturday is the most mixed night of the week, almost seeming where the people who enjoyed each of the previous nights the most all decide to come together and party. The midnight show features regular T-Boy performers Tyler and Brian, is always hosted by Mandy Goodhandy, and generally features one or more T-Girl guest performers. There are the odd curious m/f couple mingling and we love couples at all our events! Saturday night the DJ will play until 3am or later if people are dancing.

So nothing has changed at Goodhandy’s really, just updating you all on the natural evolution. We have had a fun summer and I think that with fall around the corner we are going to have an even more fun fall and winter.

Friday August 25th – DEGENDERIT – a special night promoted by Wicca. Big show starting at 11pm. Burlesque, Gender-Bending mania, plus dance with DJ Nikki Red. Cover is $9 at the door for this particular evening.
Saturday August 26th – Gender-Bender-Revue, plus Candice, DJ Nikki Red

Wednesday August 30th – Battling Boys Live
Thursday August 31st – Kiana Dior and Dustiny

Just a reminder that tonight we have the talented and lovely and legendary Miss Michelle Ross making her first appearance on the Goodhandy’s stage. The show starts near midnight, so come on down and check it out.
